YSL Volupte Tint-In-Oil in 5 Cherry My Chérie

I have always loved YSL lip product… my latest crush was their glossy tint. When I saw in the website that they are releasing this last year, I cant wait to try one myself. To my delight, the wait is over. Finally I got my own Tint in Oil.

So, the idea of tint in oil is to enhance your natural lip color with balmy comfort. YSL claims to be the first tint-in-oil tiny tint particles dissolved homogenously in oil. Plus, it features their ‘bouche a bouche’ 3D applicator. Let’s see if this combination makes my ultra dry lips happy…

The packaging is classic YSL with silver color and colored metallic neck to indicate the color inside. The tube is made of plastic, but the cap is metal. It, however, still feels substantial to hold.

The tint-in-oil looks plain in the beginning, just clear gloss with cool pink tinge. The color, however, develops as time goes by. The swatch on the left was made 5-8 minutes earlier than the freshly made swatch on the right. You can see color developing… when I wiped off the gloss, there is pink stain left behind (little less intense color compared to the swatch you see in the picture).

Okay, honestly, these pictures dont do this lovely product ANY justice... trust me, the color is more pronounced than the faint pale hint of color you see in these pictures... Trying to capture this color better, below is picture of color transfer to the tissue that I used to wipe my hand swatch. See that pretty poppy pink...

The product itself feels like a very comfortable thin gloss with lots of slip, but it doesn’t feel like applying oil on my lips! It has light YSL-signature fruity scent, which dissipates over time. The fragrance is not as strong as other YSL product I must say. It turns to the beautiful, sheer, natural looking, cheerful cool pink. I am … in loooovvveeeee….

The curved applicator certainly makes my life easier… drawing lines is breezy with this baby. Plus, it grabs just enough amount of product at one go, no need to re-dip the wand to the tube!

The tint and gloss doesn’t migrate to my liplines! And this makes me very happy. I cant believe how minimal the color transfer is to my cup rim… almost none!

Bottomline,

You want hydrating, sheer gloss to give you my lips but better cheerful colors? This is for you. Meanwhile for me, I am logging off to grab more colors and stockpile this pretty baby….

Etude House Sweet Cherry Tint PK001

Etude House of Korea is expanding its Cherry Tint lip stain collection! I am excited! In the new format, the popular lip tint is launched in lipstick format. Housed in click pen –like slim tube, Etude offers 5 colors.

(etude.co.kr)
I picked up PK001 for starter. PK 001 is pigment packed, yet sheer cool red-pink. It is super easy to apply, and it has nice slip on the lips.

Single swipe deposits enough pigment to add cheerful color on my lightly pigmented lips. It is rather glossy, but the glossiness wears away as I drink and snack. Lots of pigment got transferred to my cup rim, but by 4th hour, the stain stays still on my lips. After eating a full meal the tint became faded. Good news for me too… it doesn’t dry my lips at all!

I am liking the new click pen format, I find it easier to use and practical. Just be careful not to click too much, as the bullet cant be retracted back.

In Summary:
Lovely lip tint in super practical click pen format. Packs lots of pigment while being sheer and glossy. Glossiness wears away, but not the stain. I am loving it, and gonna purchase more colors!

Holika Holika Waterdrop Tint Stick in 4 Waterdrop strawberry

Cold refreshing things are what we always need and dream of in summer, right? Unless you are living in a tropical country like me, which in my case, I always need and want and dream of cold refreshing things. Holika holika tried to fulfill this dream for me… I mean, all of us, cosmetic lovers…

Waterdrop tint stick promises fresh colors and tint… super summer appropriate! Of 5 colors, I picked number 4 - Waterdrop strawberry.

The packaging is simple glossy plastic tube with color coordinated shade as the lip color inside. The tube feels kinda light and cheap.

Waterdrop strawberry is cool toned medium bright pink. Very cheerful. When applied, it does feel like I’m applying water on my lips… refreshing indeed… but not menthol/minty refreshing feel. It has light strawberry bubblegum fragrance when applied, it dissipates quickly after application. And I cant detect any taste too.

The product however, is a little bit hard to control, especially if you have dry lips like mine… the lip swatches made here is done direct from tube… see how the product tend to clump on dry patches of my lips? But I can easily even the tint up with few swipes and taps with my fingertips. A bit warning though… this lip color stains easily. So, expect pink tinted fingertip.

The nice thing is building color is very easy and the color is transparent, therefore there’s no risk of looking like you are wearing too much lipstick here.

Staining power of this tint is good. It stays put until the end of the day. It doesn’t dry up my lips. I prefer to top it with a nice moisturizing balm or gloss, since my lips is super dry.

Bottomline…

Nice addition for my summer make up box. Color is cheerful, staying power is good. Too bad the packaging is tad too flimsy for my taste.

Peripera Magic Glam Lip Tint in Disney Frozen 1 Let It Go

Ah… I haven’t been so giddy and excited waiting for my precious box of make up shipment from Korea for the longest time… until Frozen collection from Peripera, a Korean brand. Not only Elsa got the make up treatment, Olaf and Anna got their own make up too! From foundation, eye liner to eyeshadow (reviewed here) !

From the lips department I have chosen Elsa’s color in 1 Let It Go. Anna also has her own color called 2 I’m Happy, Kristoff.

(clubclio.co.kr)

I wont talk much about the packaging… since, obviously it is super cute with Elsa on the box and the tube itself.

One unfortunate thing is that the tube itself is not transparent. I prefer transparent tube, as then, I would know how much product I have left.

The applicator is super user friendly, with pointed tip to apply the lipcolor more precisely. The color itself is bright cool pink, with medium pigmentation. Each dip manages to pick up just nice amount of product to cover the lips lightly.

Here, on my lip swatch I applied single layer of the liptint. As you can see, it is rather sheer, but buildable to more opaque finish when you want it. This one has glossy finish and feels light on the lips, kinda hydrating too!

Boy, the tint really does its job properly! It stained quickly. The arm swatch on the right was taken about 1 minute after I applied the liptint on my skin. As you can see… it does stain!

Not only that, the single swipe I applied in the morning lasted thru the day! my lips was still beautifully stained until dinner. Well, of course the gloss has worn off by the time I had my second cup of tea, but the color only faded lightly. After my dinner though, it was mostly faded. Nonetheless, count me very happy with the longevity.

Bottomline,

I am loving Elsa, I am loving her color. The light yet hydrating texture is a win. The gloss and long lasting staining property is spot on too. Love! Good job, Peripera.

Etude House Color Lips Fit in PK003 Fantasy Fit Pink

The latest type of lipcolor from Etude House! How exciting!

Following the matte lip trend, of course, Etude House of Korea launched a product to keep up with the demand! This Lips Fit series promises liquid lipstick that glides nicely with vivid color and weightless powdery texture. Matte is usually not for me, though… as I have dry dry lips… but, let’s try…
etude.co.kr

Right now Etude offers 7 vivid colors and a clear top coat. I wont be surprised if they enlarge the collection and adds more color as summer comes near.

The packaging makes me think of regular gloss, the wand design is similar to previous glossy stain by Etude House which I enjoyed so much.

The color… yes… it is pigmented. Little goes long way here… seriously. Fantasy Fit Pink is warm pink that’s borderline coral… it is vivid, bright and almost neon! Super suitable and fun for spring!

The texture is super light and glossy when applied. But, wait a few moments, the color will turn matte. It doesn’t feel heavy or silicone, just light and it hugs my lips nicely without accentuating the lip lines. The lovely lipcolor is lightly fragranced with bubble gum scent that’s light and in no way masking any other fragrance you might be wearing. It dissipates quickly too.

Unfortunately for me, matte is no match… it dries up my lips within hours and I ended up putting on some L’occitane lipbalm to rescue my lips. Don’t get me wrong, the color is still vibrant and lovely! I experienced only minimal color transfer on my teacup. And the color stains quickly too.

Apologies, there’s gonna be no lip swatch for now, as my lips is experiencing super dry season now… ha…

Bottomline,

I totally love the bright, fun, pigmented color. It is super light and enjoyable to wear. But, it is too drying for me. Even though I can salvage it with lipbalm, I don’t think I will be purchasing more color… as layering lip balm is totally opposite the matte concept…
