Etude House Princess Happy Ending Belle Rose Cheek Blusher in #1 Pink Shine Rose

This pretty pretty blush is part of Etude’s Summer launch titled Princess Happy Ending which features collection based on 4 lovely Disney Princesses: Snow White, Belle, Cinderella, and Jasmine. Each Princess offers you different collection… Belle has her blush, lipstick and polish. I also purchased Cinderella's eyeshadow (review here).

(eude.co.kr)

I’m picking up the blush this time. Belle has 2 shades to offer to you: one pink and one coral. I picked #1 Pink Shine Rose. Etude says this blush is supposed to create ‘rose in full bloom on both cheeks’.

The box cant be cuter than this! Look! Book pink book shaped box adorned with roses. Instant love! They put attention to detail: look at that curved book spine!

Well… this particular curve makes it difficult to open the box… but hey… it is still too pretty to look at!

The blush itself is housed in simple plastic pan, which feels kinda light and flimsy. I am expecting mirror inside, but I found none… after the pretty box, the pan itself is a disappointment for me.  Moving on…

(arm swatch - blended vs not blended)

The blush is pretty baby pink that reminds me of baby tea rose petal, but it is not fragranced. It is sheer when applied with soft pearly finish, very soft and pretty. Suitable for daily make up. Not for those who prefer more pigmented product though… as this is super sheer. As for Etude’s claim, ‘rose in full bloom’…  I think I would imagine rose in full bloom more pigmented and of deeper shade than this.

Bottomline,
Pretty color for daily make up, but not pigmented enough to evoke ‘rose in full bloom’ in my eyes.

Revlon Colorburst Gloss in 018 Fire

Colorburst range from Revlon is my most favorite drugstore brand lip color so far! The lipsticks are nicely pigmented and light. The glosses I tried so far are nice as well.
This time, I purchased Fire- crème fire engine red. I do think this will fit any skintone-if you are confident enough to rock red. The pigmentation doesn’t disappoint – it is super pigmented, only thin layer is needed to make nice, even red lips. As with my previous Colorburst glosses – it is not too moisturizing, yet not drying-just nice. It is not one of those heavy-sticky kind of lip gloss.
Fire lasted 2-3 hours on me – with my frequent tea sipping. I have no trouble of the color migrating around, even without lip pencil as base. It is nice that the color doesn’t clump or pool on my lip lines.  In the end of 2-3 hours, it leaves a nice red stain on my lips.
In summary…
Perfect lipgloss for those who want bold red lip! Good option for those wanting to experiment with red too- if you don’t like it too loud just apply lightly then blot with tissue…voila! Nicely stained lips!

Skinfood Vita Tok lipstick in PK01 Dorothy Berry

Skinfood products always appeal me for their natural-vintage style packaging. Skinfood is Korean brand claiming to use good stuff as ingredient which will be good ‘food’ for your skin–hence the name: skinfood!
This time Skinfood brings you Vita Tok lipstick, which promises to bring you watercolor like lippies- vibrant colors and shine for kissable lips! Sounds good to me… this range comes rather wide variety of colors from deeper reds, magentas, pinks to beiges.

Packaging wise- this is not very skinfood. They uses clear plastic as caps of the lippies. the tube is sealed with clear plastic packaging which you need to rip open to use the lipstick. On the plastic packaging-they slap on Vita Tok sticker. Even though it is made of plastic, it doesn’t feel too flimsy or cheap.

On to the color – Doroty Berry is bright pink-magenta, color which appeals to me more and more lately. The lippie itself is buildable- sheer tint like if you swipe lightly or bright magenta if swiped more. I like the color.
Unfortunately, I don’t think it lives to the ‘kissable’ promise! This one transfers very easily to rim of my tea cup- don’t think it will not transfer to your loved ones cheeks…  it is not  as shiny/glossy as I would like the lippie to be as well. The nice thing is-it glides easily on my lips.
It lasts about 2-3 hours on me. After about 2-3 hours it leaves my lips nicely stained with magenta.
In summary…
Rather nice to have, if you can get this as near as the retail price in Korea. But more expensive than Revlon’s colorburst lippie range- I’d rather go for colorburst.

Pigeon UV Protection Compact Powder in Pink

Pigeon is one of my favorite baby products brand. I love the fragrance, the logo, everything… and today, I decided to venture to Pigeon’s products for adults.

Pigeon is Japanese company produces mainly baby and mother products… toiletries, pacifiers, diapers … In some Asian countries; I’ve seen some products made for adults, mainly face powders. This one claims to contain jojoba, chamomile and microfine Zinc Oxide for UV protection. No SPF number seen anywhere in the packaging though.

The pressed powder is packaged in pretty standard plastic compact with mirror and puff inside. The puff is so thin and the velvety material tends to shed and stick to the mirror though. The brand offers several shades like ivory, gold, beige, etc… I picked pink, because I think that would be more suitable for me. Unfortunately it is waaaaayyy to fair for my skin tone. That’s what you get for buying without seeing the actual color! Heh…

The product is fragranced, powdery fragrance. Quite pleasant IMO. And it is pretty pigmented, so… don’t get one which doesn’t match your skin tone… you will look ashy! Not the finest powder I’ve tried… but hey… with that price (reapprox USD 3.30) and quantity (20gr) I don’t think I can complain of anything.

Don’t think I will use this, but I love the mirror… So I’m keeping it for the mirror!

@ Anonymous:  I got mine in Guardian -one of the shopping malls of Jakarta.

Etude House nail polish GR608

Look at that unique neon yellow! I just have to have it!!!

Or not… (as I found out later)
Just like anything else from Etude House, this Korean brand really nailed it every time they design their packaging. This mini nail polish is no exception. Small and cute. And with seasonal colors such as this strikingly unique yellow greenish neon, I think it would be a greater idea not to invest (uh, yes, I ‘invest’ in my polish and make up item = p) in big bottle such as the regular Essies or OPIs.

And with its KRW xx price tag, it doesn’t hurt bit even to grab more colors! Sounds like heaven, right? No…

The color is…as you can see… sheer neon yellow with greenish tint and jelly finish. Etude house seems to consider this one Greens from its color coding (GR608), but I think this is more yellow than green. In the bottle it reminds me of the color of certain type of young unfurled banana shoot… anyways, on nail, I feel like using yellow highlighter… that level of sheerness… even after 2-3 coats. By looking at how sheer this is, I don’t think I would recommend anyone to pick this color. The scotch tape swatch below is single, double and triple coat...

First of, the formula. It is so hard to make it even and nice. And somehow it takes forever to dry. Normally, even the longest drying of OPIs or Orlys, I don’t have to use my hair dryer to work. This one… even the first layer need hair dryer to help with the drying.

Granted, yellows are not the easiest color to formulate in nail polish it seems. If this were not yellow, I would have thrown it away after witnessing the result on first coat. however, I still wanna give this yellow a try , As the color is very sheer, I need to pile more coat… there goes the second coat. And … it dries... forever and a day.

With hair dryer, fan and every single method I know, I still couldn’t manage to make it dry even after 2 hours. Mind you, this is only the 2nd layer. So I gave up, and sleep with my half dried polish, knowing I would have to remove it and apply fresh polish in the morning. For curiosity sake, I left it on just to know how long will this polish really dry out.

Surprise me, it hasn’t dry fully even in the morning. Slight knock on the table make dent on the polish.

One bottle goes to the newly opened polish graveyard.

Urban Decay 24/7 Eye Shadow Pencil in Morphine

What can I say... the color is amazing, the texture is amazing, the lasting power is amazing
I first fell in love with Urban Decay colourful and creamy 24/7 pencil eye liners. Graduating from the eyeliner, I saw Morphine. The color is simply... amazing... light purple with iridescent glow. It just makes my eyes appear fresher and bigger when applied properly.
This chubby pencil is so creamy and glides easily without tugging. Easy to work with (as long as you don’t let it set), easy to blend with the 24/7 eye liner pencil. It applies evenly too.
The loveliest thing is... the color stay put and vibrant all day long. My lid is super oily, most shadow wont stay fresh and will migrate by the time the clock hits 4pm. Not this one.
I am sooo going to buy more... totally recommended!

Missha Crystal Nail Polish in HGRO1

Polishes in Korea were incredible! I am spoilt for colors & brands & ultra cute packaging. But as I found out later, not all Korean polishes are the same… this one is from Missha, Korean brand famous for its BB cream. One of my favorite Korean polish. Here’s why…

See the packaging? Isnt it cute? Heart shaped bottle with wide brush. Very easy to work with. And the width of the brush just happen to fit my nail width nicely. I just need to brush once and I got all my nail covered nicely & evenly with the polish. Here’s the brush side by side with a ruler just to show you how wide it is. Stout and wide.

The color is dark-green pearl-shimmery. I am not so good at describing such complicated polish color. Bottomline… So pretty.

Ahem... please pretend not to see that blotch of polish on the side of my nail.... moving on...
And the formula is heavenly. It spreads evenly and dries fast. Pretty opaque, two coats are enough to create evenly covered nails. Somehow it has this funny floral-something smell…not the regular polish smell. I don’t fancy the smell, but it is not so obtrusive when I’m typing. The funny smell goes away after 2-3 hours.

This picture is 2 coats of Missha polish. Most Korean polish I tried doesn’t really stay long, they either chipped super easily or worn off super fast compared to OPIs. This is does pretty decent job staying on my nail. During lazy days, I use only single coat of Missha and it looks pretty even after 2 days, if I don’t do too much house work. Double coat usually stays nice longer. And mind you, I dont use top coats.

One bummer is the packaging (again). While first it looks pretty, after I open it, I couldn’t resist my urge to twist and close the bottle tightly. And the result…somehow the heart shaped stopper and heart shaped bottle body couldn’t get aligned properly, and the result is just plain funny.

Overall I like this one from Missha…a lot! While the price is more expensive than other brands I got in Korea, this is still waaay cheaper than OPIs or Essies.

Banila co. the Kissest Plumping tinted stick in LOVE

Banila co. Entered my radar only recently, since it doesn’t have any shop in Singapore. But the products looks pretty and I just cant resist to grab some...

The name says it all... it is lightly tinted balm which promises more plump lips. Sounds good...
I do think the packaging is so chic... chic plastic neon pink, without looking cheap.
The texture is totally comfortable... just like your regular lip balm with mint fragrance and taste. The Kissest is not as moisturizing as regular balm, but still more moisturizing than regular lipstick.
The fragrance is not so strong, but the taste it kinda strong. And you can feel slight tingle on your lips after applying.
The color is sheer pretty pink which I do think will suit nearly anyone. It stains my lip a little, leaving lovely pink color.
Is it really plumping? Erm.. a little bit... just a little bit. I don’t think the plumping action is really noticeable.
Minimal plumping aside, this balm is comfortable to wear and I just adore the color. like the color so much... I think I will grab another color!
In summary..
Packaging: light plastic tube with neon colors
COlor offerings: 3 colors- 2 shade of pinks and one tangerie
Texture:  similar to lip balm
Staying power: lasts about 3-4 hours (thanks to the staining property)
Is it worth it?
Yes if... you like tinted balm, you want sheer colors
No if... you cant stand fragranced products, your lips are sensitive to plumping product

Etude House Aloha lipstick pencil Two Two Kiss in 4 Honolulu Red Shine

I fell so totally In love with Etude House’s Miss Tangerine line. When I saw they are coming up with Aloha...I cant help but grabbed some for myself without even testing them!

Dont ask me what does Two Two Kiss means... it just look pretty and I grabbed it. Pencil style - One side it is gloss and the other is tint! It smells of yummy fruity caramel, just faintly. The fragrance is gone after application and it is virtually tasteless.
While the tint & gloss looks strong and vibrant in the packaging, it is actually sheer. The tint just nice to add a little pop on my lips. It is pretty glossy when worn alone too. Both are pretty moisturizing and unfortunately, doesn’t last very long. They actually feel and apply like balm!
While the color of the tint is more magenta and the gloss is more coral, the gloss pack some subtle shimmer, not really visible when worn though. Tint is slightly staining on my skin, the gloss goes off easily.
Beside this one, I also purchased Two Two Kiss in Pink Hula Hula. Click to see the swatch. Unlike Honolulu Red Shine, Pink Hula Hula changes color slowly upon application.
In summary...
Packaging: easy to use pencil
Color offering: mainly poppy summer appropriate colors
Texture: glossy, slightly moisturizing
Lasting  power: 2 hours appprox.
Is it worth it?
Yes if... you like light, bright colors
No if... you want more pigment packed lippie, it is hard for you to get Etude House around

Holika Holika Glam Box Powder Eyeshadow in 02

Another one from Korea! Holika Holika’s Glam Box.
Simply put, this line is a series of shimmering powder eye shadows housed in tiny pot with small opening on top. you can use Q-tip or (like lazy me...) just shake a bit while pressing your finger tip on the opening...

As you can see here... the color is sheer pretty iridescent pink. Smooth and fine, easy to blend too. reflects light really nicely, but it doesn’t really pack any pink pigment....
The funny thing is... it appears not powdery, but a little clumpy. I tend to get a few balls of pigments on my fingertips... then when I blended it, I tend to pick too much. For sheer shadows like this one, I tend to  use them as final veil over my lid to add light shimmer... but with this clumping happening... I cant use it as I wanted it to...
Well... may be I should start using Q-tip? Or the humidity here is much higher than Korea? I don’t know...
Overall, the clumping problem aside.... I like the color powder shadow as highlighter for brow bone

Etude House Aloha lipstick pencil Two Two Kiss in 2 Sandy Pink Hula Hula

Aloha series is the latest from Etude House. The face of this campaign is still Sandara Park – just like my favourite Miss Tangerine line from earlier this year.
Two Two Kiss is combo of tint and gloss in one handy pencil. Pink Hula Hula features what looks like nude-peachy tint and gloss...

The gloss is pretty much what-you-see-is-what-you-get. Not the tint. While it looks like pale cold pink on my skin... it turns to sheer pop of magenta pink on my lips. I do like the color...
It is not drying, just slightly moisturizing too (on my ultra dry and often chapped lips)... and it last decent hours... about 3 hours with my heavy tea-drinking habit.
In summary...
Packaging: easy to use pencil
Color offering: mainly poppy summer appropriate colors
Texture: glossy, slightly moisturizing
Lasting  power: 3 hours appprox. (tint)
Is it worth it?
Yes if... you like sheer poppy colors, you want two in one product
No if... you don’t have access to etude House, you don’t like internet shopping

Holika Holika Midnight Owl Blush 02

This is the other product from Holika Holika’s Midnight Owl series. Previously I reviewed Holika Holika Midnight Owl Highlighter 01 . And of course... the blush is calling me too... cant say no to it... this Korean brand really know how to pack their blushes... first they came with the Merry Holika – cat patterned blusher and face powder. Now the owl.. sigh...
I wont go into details about how lovely and easy to use the packaging design is. It is just nice...

Same with the highlighter, the owl design is not over spray! Hurrah to Holika!!!

The blush is mix of deep pink, light purple-pink, lime green, yellow and pearly white. First few use, i notice it is shimmery... but it decreases as  the shimmer is mostly overspray.

Is it worth it?
Yes if... you just adore Owls, you like the design, you want compact blush for travels, you like sheer colors
No if... you don’t want to go internet shopping , you want blush with more pigment

The color itself is rather sheer, but still lovely to create fresh look.

In summary...
Packaging: cute and easy to use
Color offering: Midnight Owl only comes in highlighter (01) and blush (02)
Price: KRW 20,000
Texture: sheer cool pink, fine,  slightly shimmery and easy to use.

Holika Holika Midnight Owl Highlighter 01

Compared to other Korean brands, Holika Holika is pretty new for me, I just discovered it recently. They brand themselves in a pretty unique way... not princess or pretty... but more lighthearted gothic-magical. Look at the logo...I think I see silhouette of a witch here...

Anyways... branding aside... who wont be attracted with this one...

First, I adore adore adore the packaging. Just like its name suggests, Midnight Owl highlighter features golden owl perching on tree branch. The tree and other silhouette is printed in deep aubergine, pretty detailed and very lovely.

The brush comes with the compact highlighter. It is pretty soft and surprisingly a pleasure to use.

Once you open the compact, you have to open another clear plastic covering. On top of the plastic cover, you put the brush. I like the design. No mess on my highlighter and so easy to use!

Now the product... it features owl perching on tree. The nice thing is...it is not overspray! Hurrah! The owl design actually stays.

The powder are light lavender, deep lavender, pearly white, peach and baby blue.. here it is swatched one by one.

This is totally lovely to use. Just swirl you brush and voila! It is shimmery and makes my face glow when I use it. I am in love...

In summary...
Packaging: cute and easy to use
Color offering: Midnight Owl only comes in highlighter (01) and blush (02)
Price: KRW 20,000
Texture: fine, shimmery and easy to use.
Is it worth it?
Yes if... you just adore Owls, you like the design, you want compact highlighter for travels,
No if... you don’t want to go internet shopping

Rouge Automatique Workshop Jakarta - Guerlain Rouge Automatique in Shalimar 166

In the beginning, I fell in love with Guerlain line of perfumes. And then, as my interest in lip colors grow, I tried Guerlain’s gorgeous KissKiss Strass. Too bad, it doesn’t agree with my lips and make my lips feel ultra dry. I’ve steer away from Guerlain’s lippies since then.

But when I saw the promo pictures of Rouge Automatique, the signature color is soooo gorgeous. And the model looks totally lovely in it. Not to mention, many blogs I followed such as Musingsofamuse and Karlasugar has mentioned and reviewed it. I enrolled myself to beauty workshop/launch of Rouge Automatique in Jakarta.

Paid about 23 USD for the workshop, feels a little expensive, but it is fully redeemable with Guerlain goods sold on that day (too bad, they don’t carry full line of make up and skin care during the event). Maxime Poulin, the Parisian make up artist was there for this workshop.
I really enjoyed listening to him, he sounds very passionate about make up and willing to help answer audience’s questions.

Unfortunately, no hands on make up session here, but he demonstrated day to night make up technique to the lovely model.
Of course, there’s full display and tester of Rouge Automatique on each table for us to try on...
Was soo tempted to do full swatch, but light in the room was not so good, so decided not to do it... anyways, one of my favourite blog, Karlasugar done lovely swatch already.

Now... to the lippie! First ...the design. Albeit not novel, it is still so pretty. They keep on emphasising the fact that ladies can apply the rouge with single hand using this. But really... no big deal for me. I love the design still... looks almost vintage. Very pretty.

I decided to take Shalimar with me. It is cool-pink-fuchsia with light shimmer. Ultra lovely. This shade is slightly lighter than Champs Elysees – the signature color.

The texture is heavenly. Guerlain claimed second-skin lippie... and they are so totally correct. Rouge Automatique glides on nicely and easily. It is light and I don’t really feel like I’m wearing lippie! It is crème, but not heavy.... gel but not light or drying. Some said it is gel-creme... I totally agree!

Pigmentation is just nice... not too crème, but covers lips well. However, it is not as lasting as I would like it to be. But hey... you cant get everything, right? The color doesn’t migrate, even though I didn’t prep my lips or apply any lip liner beforehand. Lasts about 3-4 hours and completely gone after meal.

During the workshop, Maxime even picked a pretty red for me. He suggests 121 Rouge D’enfer or 122 Liu for me. Rouge D’enfer is medium true red, lighter sister to Liu. According to Maxime, Rouge D’enfer would fit most skin tone. It is ...well, medium true red, not too crème. I noticed it is slightly sheer... and turns out slightly different on different skin tone, because some natural lip tone peeks thru nicely below Rouge D’enfer. I tried it on... and fallen in love with it. even though, not used seeing myself in such bold red, initially I was a bit hesitant.

Too bad, the only Rouge D’enfer they had left when I decided to purchase was not in prime condition. I have to delay my purchase and bring home only Shalimar.

This is worth lemming for... but I can see this would be too expensive for some. In Indonesia it goes for around whooping USD 43!!!

In Summary...
Packaging: golden chromed plastic, light but not too light. Still has some weigh to make it feel luxe
Color offering: 4/5 lovely range of beiges, oranges, reds and rose-pink
Collateral damage:around USD 43 in Indonesia
Moisturizing: not moisturizing, but not drying, just nice. Like second skin!

SANA Superquick Lip Concealer EX in Baby Pink 02 SPF 15 PA++

I’ve wanted to try the nude-lip look for a while now. Unfortunately for me, not single product I tried has been pigmented, moisturized enough for my lips. One day thou, I found this baby:
I’ve wanted to try the nude-lip look for a while now. Unfortunately for me, not single product I tried has been pigmented, moisturized enough for my lips. One day thou, I found this baby:

I am loving the texture...very balmy, feels like not wearing lipcolor but balm. It gives me glossy finish from start to end. The color though, doesn’t last very long. Only 2-3 hours with minimal tea sippings in between. But the glossiness sticks around for few more hours. Not bad... unfortunately I don’t see or feel any plumping effect aside from the gloss.
In summary...
Packaging: plastic, lip balm like
Color variations: only 2 options: baby pink or beige
Price: SGD 17.9
Texture: balmy and glossy
Moisturizing: 4/5
Staying power: 1-2 hours without tea sippings or snacking in between
Will I buy more? Yes, if I was still having the nude lip fever by the time this tube finishes 
